The swing bridge is a unique technical monument from the late 19th century, built in 1889 by the firm Beuchelt & Co. from Zielona Góra. It is located over the Łuczański Canal, connecting the Niegocin and Kisajno lakes, and serves as a strategic link between the city center and Boyen Fortress. Its structure, about 20 meters long and 8 meters wide, is exceptional – the bridge span manually rotates 90 degrees to the side, aligning parallel to the canal bank. This allows ships to pass, and the entire operation takes only a few minutes and can be carried out by one person.

The swing bridge is one of three road bridges in Giżycko and is listed in the register of immovable monuments of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. After being destroyed during World War II, it was rebuilt, and following renovations in 1993, its original manual opening mechanism was restored. Today, it is not only an important piece of infrastructure but also a tourist attraction, drawing numerous visitors who eagerly watch the moment of its opening and closing.

Importantly, the swing bridge is located near our Hotel St Bruno, making it easily accessible for guests and tourists visiting Giżycko. It is an excellent place to combine accommodation with the opportunity to explore this technical marvel and admire the Masurian landscapes from a unique perspective.
