Boyen Fortress in Giżycko was built between 1843 and 1855 as a facility blocking the strategic isthmus between Lake Niegocin and Lake Kisajno. At the beginning of April 1843, King Frederick William IV issued an order to start the construction of the fortress. A project was developed that involved building a six-sided earth-and-masonry blocking fort in the immediate vicinity of the town on the so-called Giżycko Island.
Please note that the ticket office of Boyen Fortress is open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Visits are possible until 8:00 PM.
