Hotel room names depend on the standard of equipment, the number and quality of beds, additional amenities, the size and number of available rooms, and the location within the hotel.

Here are some of the most common types of hotel rooms:

Standard rooms — the basic type of hotel room offered to guests. Usually equipped with a double bed or two single beds, a desk, TV, wardrobe, and bathroom.
Deluxe room — a higher standard than standard and superior rooms, offering greater comfort and additional amenities (private balcony, larger and more comfortable bed, modern coffee machine, and much more). This usually refers to space that has recently been freshly renovated.
Suites — usually larger than standard rooms, offering additional living space with a separate living room, bedroom, and sometimes a kitchen or kitchenette. Ideal for people traveling with family or planning a longer stay.
Studio rooms — characterized by an open layout, usually without a clear division into separate rooms. Such a room includes a bed, a small kitchenette, and often a workspace.
Rooms with a view — rooms that offer beautiful views of the surroundings, e.g., the sea, mountains, park, or local landmarks. These rooms are appreciated by travelers due to the additional attraction of a picturesque landscape.
Family rooms — specially designed with families traveling with children in mind. They may be larger than standard rooms, with additional beds or space for children.
Accessible rooms — hotels often offer specially adapted rooms for people with limited mobility. They have wider doors, bathroom grab bars, and other facilities that facilitate the stay.

What does superior room mean?

A superior room is a higher standard among hotel rooms, offering better equipment and services than standard rooms, but lower than deluxe rooms. Guests can expect more space, improved facilities, additional amenities included in the room rate, and e.g. a room with a view.

Specific differences between a superior and a standard room may include: larger living area and balcony, more comfortable bed with a higher quality mattress, air conditioning, coffee and tea making set, modern appliances, bathtub instead of shower, free WiFi access, complimentary minibar, spa services included in the price, and an attractive window view.

It should be noted that the lack of standard rules in room categorization means that each hotel can define its own category division, and the specifics of a superior room depend on the description provided by the particular hotel. Additionally, not all hotels offer different room categories, which means that rooms with a higher standard than the basic one may not always be available.

Basic room

This is a basic hotel room offering standard amenities. It usually contains a bed, bathroom, and basic furnishings such as a TV, desk, wardrobe, and internet access. A basic room can accommodate 2 or more people and does not have additional amenities or luxury elements.

Twin room

An alternative to a double room. It is a hotel room with two separate beds, usually equal in size. A twin room is suitable for two people traveling together who prefer separate beds.

Suite room

A suite is a spacious hotel room that usually consists of a separate bedroom and an adjoining living room. A suite offers more space than a standard room and may include additional amenities such as a large bathroom, dining area, or an extra room.

Budget room

A budget room is a solution offered to provide affordable accommodation. Such a room may be equipped only with basic amenities.

Apartment suite

This is a luxury type of hotel accommodation that combines elements of an apartment and a luxury hotel bedroom. An apartment suite usually consists of several rooms, including a bedroom, living room, bathroom, and a larger space compared to a standard hotel room. It offers a higher level of comfort, privacy, and amenities for guests.

Double room

A double room is simply a standard room equipped with a double bed for two people. So what does DBL mean? It means exactly the same! A DBL room is an abbreviation for double room, meaning a double room with one double bed.
