Holidays and trips with a dog can sometimes be more complicated than with children. The latter are accepted almost everywhere and often receive play corners and crayons in restaurants or playrooms in hotels. The former, at best, get a water bowl, and sometimes they are simply not allowed to enter. Because fur falls out, claws leave marks, and carpets get chewed, especially if they have fringes.

However, the world is changing, and the life of a four-legged friend is improving. Nowadays, for example, the Masuria region with a dog already sounds quite homely because it is not difficult to find accommodation where dogs are accepted, and, as you know, there are quite a few attractions for them there.

Why does the dog bark in Masuria?

The Tatra Mountains are the worst because you can hardly go anywhere with a dog, but Poland does not end there. Generally, we are more afraid of a barking dog than one that does not want to make a sound. We think that if it barks, it is dangerous. However, sometimes a dog barks out of joy that bursts inside it, and this certainly happens when we arrive in Masuria with a dog. When our pet sees these open spaces full of forests and lakes, it will not want to return to closed rooms.

It is also always worth thinking about sailing, which residents of other parts of the country often give up on, assuming in advance that it is not possible with a dog. Sometimes a dog becomes the reason to cancel the trip to Masuria because the main attraction here is the lakes, and if we cannot enjoy them, then why travel at all? That is a mistake because it may happen that the dog does not want to get on any water body at all, but that is not the rule, and even if not immediately, a dog can catch the bug. What is worth remembering when traveling to Masuria with a four-legged friend?

Masuria with a dog and wisely

Animals are accepted in an increasing number of hotels and restaurants, but this does not mean that certain rules should not be observed. Whether we travel by train or car and no matter how confident we are about the good training of our dog, we should have a leash, a collar, a muzzle, or a halter, i.e., a head collar. Remember that a dog may behave differently in a new area than in a familiar place. Moreover, in the Masurian forests, it may encounter birds and wildlife that a more timid dog may be afraid of and run away despite our calls.

It is always better to keep the dog close at the beginning, observe how it feels and behaves in the environment, and only then allow it more freedom. Moreover, in a restaurant or hotel, we may not necessarily meet only animal lovers; sometimes people are afraid of dogs, so in such places, it is often expected that the dog will be under the control of the owner or is even required to remain in the hotel room. Every dog owner should also ensure the safety of their four-legged friend.

What to take care of when going to Masuria with a dog?

Every dog is a tasty morsel for the parasites we dislike most, such as ticks. The more forests, the higher the chance of contact with them. That is why you should protect your dog with an appropriate collar, drops, or tablets. A tick removal tool should also be part of the dog’s first-aid kit. Remember about food because restaurants so far only serve water, not a dog menu yet. If our dog likes baths, it’s obvious that it will have plenty of opportunities to come into contact with water in Masuria. It is worth remembering towels for the dog to wipe it off before entering a restaurant or hotel. It is also good to have something for cuts because such things can happen to the dog too. And although last, it is very important – the vaccination book should travel with us as the main dog document.

A good option for a dog in Masuria

Hotel St. Bruno cares for four-legged pets. Luxurious and boutique interiors do not necessarily associate with dogs, yet we do! Right at the entrance, we welcome four-legged guests with a welcome set consisting of a bowl, a toy, a treat, or a snack sachet (applies to guests booking a stay of at least 3 nights). We also have convenient door hangers for guests and staff. These indicate that a dog is in the room, so no one will be surprised – neither the dog nor the hotel staff. The dog can use the green area surrounding the hotel, the Łuczański terrace, or the castle courtyard.

In the warm months, you can go out with your meal to the courtyard and eat in the company of your dog. In other circumstances, when we go to the restaurant, the dog can calmly eat in the room, making everyone more relaxed. There is no doubt that many smells from dishes at restaurant tables can make the dog, not only for guests but also for the owners themselves, a nuisance, demanding something from the table. When traveling with a dog on vacation, we must remember that changing the place of stay and being around strangers can be an additional stress for the dog. During the holiday, we must care not only about the comfort of the four-legged friend but also about other users of the hotel space.
